According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, there is a "decent-sized gap" between what Buster Posey wants in an extension and what the Giants are willing to give him.
Posey is under club control through the 2016 season, so the extension talks are still at a very early stage. The 25-year-old catcher has said before that he would like to spend his entire career in San Francisco and the Giants are certainly open to that idea. Now it's about finding a common ground on the money and length of a long-term contract. Posey hit .336/.408/.549 with 24 homers, 39 doubles and 103 RBI in 148 games last season. He has already won two World Series titles (2010, 2012).
