Cards cut ties with shortstop Ronny Cedeno

Cardinals released INF Ronny Cedeno.
The Cardinals brought Cedeno aboard this winter on a one-year, $1.15 million contract, but they have decided to go in another direction with their bench now that Pete Kozma is expected to fill in for Rafael Furcal at shortstop. Matt Carpenter is the favorite to start at second base while Daniel Descalso will likely serve as a backup middle infielder and Matt Adams will function as a left-handed bat off the bench. Cedeno shouldn't be out of a job for long, though.
