Indians talk extensions with Brantley, Kipnis
Michael Brantley - OF - Cleveland Indians
March 18, 2013 - 4:55 PM ET

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Indians continue to discuss contract extensions with Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis.

The Indians began talking to Brantley about an extension before they signed Michael Bourn. His long-term value is lower in left field than it was in center field, which adds a new dynamic to the negotiations. The 25-year-old will be arbitration-eligible for the first time after the 2013 season. As for Kipnis, he won't be arbitration-eligible until after 2014. With each player, the Indians would likely want to buy out their arbitration seasons and perhaps multiple years of free agency.
