Matt Adams could win roster spot

The Cardinals are considering carrying Matt Adams on their Opening Day bench.
Adams has raked this spring, batting .344/.382/.594 with two homers, two doubles and eight RBI. It's not ideal having him on the big club when he won't receive everyday at-bats, but the Cards believe Adams has nothing left to prove in the minors. He could play first base on days the club rests Carlos Beltran or Matt Holliday, which would mean shifting Allen Craig to the outfield. The Cards had such an alignment during Saturday's game, as Craig received his first start in the outfield this spring.
