Samuel Deduno struck out seven while tossing four innings of one-run ball in Thursday's 3-1 win over the United States.
Deduno was shaky in the first, allowing three hits and walking in a run. He really settled in after that, though, and showed plenty of emotion on the mound. The game was tied heading into the ninth inning, when the Dominicans touched up closer Craig Kimbrel for a pair of runs. The Dominican Republic has advanced to the WBC's final round, while the USA will square off against Puerto Rico Friday in a do-or-die game.
