Jedd Gyorko expected to win Padres' 2B job
Jedd Gyorko - 2B - San Diego Padres
March 13, 2013 - 10:30 PM ET

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that, "barring something unforeseen," Jedd Gyorko is expected to be the Padres' starting second baseman.

The writing has been on the wall, and Heyman says that the Padres' brass is "satisfied (Gyorko) can make the switch from third base." Gyorko has batted .270/.308/.595 with three homers, three doubles and nine RBI this spring, while his competition at second, Logan Forsythe, has battled injuries. Assuming Gyorko is indeed named the starter, Forsythe will operate in a utility role. The owner of a career .319/.385/.529 batting line in the minors, Gyorko offers major fantasy sleeper appeal.
