Brewers, Gomez finalize 3-yr, $24M extension
Carlos Gomez - OF - Milwaukee Brewers
March 13, 2013 - 6:15 PM ET

Brewers signed OF Carlos Gomez to a three-year, $24 million contract extension.

It was originally reported to be a four-year deal, but Gomez was already locked in for a $4.3 million salary in 2013 -- his final season of arbitration. This new extension ultimately buys out the dynamic center fielder's first three years of free agency. Gomez, 27, will make $7 million in 2014, $8 million in 2015 and $9 million in 2016. Those aren't awful wages for a guy who had 19 home runs and 37 stolen bases in 2012, and who boasts excellent defensive range in the outfield.
