Bryce Harper expected to bat third for Nats
Bryce Harper - OF - Washington Nationals
March 6, 2013 - 9:35 PM ET

Bryce Harper is expected to bat third for the Nationals this season.

Manager Davey Johnson wouldn't totally commit to it, but he noted that the lineup he used Sunday, which was Ryan Zimmerman's first day back in action, was the way he's leaning. The order features Denard Span leading off, followed by Jayson Werth, Harper, Zimmerman, Adam LaRoche, Ian Desmond, Danny Espinosa and Kurt Suzuki/Wilson Ramos. Zimmerman has batted third almost exclusively the last two seasons, but the Nats are ready to move Harper to the three hole and Zimmerman down to cleanup. The 20-year-old phenom should be poised for a monster 2013 season.
