Ricardo Nanita went 3-for-5 with two doubles Wednesday as the Dominican Republic beat the Yankees 8-2.
Left field is the big hole for the Dominican Republic with Jose Bautista absent, but Nanita had a better game than all of the team's All-Stars today. The 31-year-old Nanita hit .306/.353/.465 with 12 homers in 333 at-bats for Triple-A Las Vegas last season. It's not a bad line, but it's not very impressive after factoring in that Las Vegas is a terrific hitter's park. In 2011, Nanita hit .363/.416/.554 in 51 games for the same club, and he still wasn't taken very seriously as a minor league free agent.
