Martin Perez out 4 wks with forearm fracture
Martin Perez - R - Texas Rangers
March 3, 2013 - 8:35 PM ET

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports Martin Perez suffered a fractured left forearm in Sunday's Cactus League game and will be shut down for the next four weeks.

It's terrible news for the Rangers. Perez was injured on a comebacker in just his second appearance of spring training and is now set to open the season on the disabled list. With Perez sidelined, Kyle McClellan, Randy Wells, and Robbie Ross are the leading candidates to win the final spot in the Opening Day rotation. The Rangers have also "remained in contact" with free agent Kyle Lohse and could look to revisit the idea of signing him.
