Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Jerry Hairston Jr. and Skip Schumaker may split time in left field if Carl Crawford has to miss the start of the season.
"If you're asking me today, just off the top of my head, those two guys kind of give me a left-right situation in left field," Mattingly said of the duo. The platoon scenario isn't ideal for the team, as Hairston owns just a .261 lifetime average against left-handed pitchers and neither player is much of a leadoff option. Still, with the talent up and down the Dodgers lineup, the situation is worth monitoring.
