Samardzija goes three innings vs. D'Backs

Jeff Samardzija allowed one run over three innings Friday against the Diamondbacks.
Samardzija gave up just one hit while striking out one and walking three. The only run scored on a double-play grounder off the bat of Mark Teahen in the second inning. With Matt Garza (lat strain) increasingly likely to open the season on the disabled list, Samardzija is expected to get the Opening Day assignment against the Pirates.
