Freddy Garcia struggled mightily in his first spring training start, allowing five runs (four earned) in Sunday's 8-3 loss to the Mariners.
The Mariners opened the game with five straight hits, including a three-run home run by Raul Ibanez. It was an appallingly bad showing for a pitcher trying to win a roster spot during spring training. Garcia also hit a batter and finished with 34 pitches in just one inning of work. There's very little appeal here in fantasy, even if Garcia manages to crack the Padres' Opening Day rotation.
