BoSox 'hopeful' of making trade for Mike Carp

Alex Speier of WEEI.com was told by a major league source that the Red Sox are "hopeful" of working out a trade for Mike Carp.
The Mariners have until Thursday to trade Carp, who was designated for assignment last week. The Twins and Astros have also been mentioned as possible landing spots. Carp batted just .213/.312/.341 over an injury-plagued 2012 season, but the Red Sox apparently see him as a potential insurance policy for Mike Napoli at first base.
