Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Matt Garza left his throwing session Sunday with a "mild" lat strain.
The exact details still aren't known, but this doesn't appear to be related to the elbow injury that caused Garza to miss the final three months of the 2012 season. Prior to the setback, the 29-year-old had been ahead of schedule in his recovery and was throwing 45-pitch bullpen sessions last week.
