Clayton Richard likely headed to arbitration

CBS Sports' Scott Miller reports that arbitration "looks likely" between the Padres and Clayton Richard.
Richard is the last remaining arbitration case this offseason, and the Padres aren't close to finalizing a deal. He requested $5.55 million and was offered $4.91 million when arbitration figures were exchanged last month. While Richard posted a respectable 3.99 ERA and 1.24 WHIP in 2012, he's long been one of the primary beneficiaries of PETCO Park. He shouldn't be drafted as more than a late-round flier in deeper mixed leagues.
