Jadeveon Clowney seeks $5M insurance policy
Jadeveon Clowney - DL - College Player
Feb. 14, 2013 - 9:30 AM ET

South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney is seeking an insurance policy on his 2013 junior season as protection against injury.

Clowney, fully expected to be a top-two pick in the 2014 NFL draft, recently contacted Coastal Advisors LLC about a policy protecting him against "catastrophic injury," like the one suffered by teammate Marcus Lattimore in 2012. The policy could be worth up to $5 million. 6-foot-6, 256-pound Clowney racked up 13.5 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss as a true sophomore. Some have suggested that sitting out the 2013 college season could be in Clowney's best interest, he has so little to gain and so much to lose.
