Mariners signed RHP Felix Hernandez to a seven-year, $175 million contract extension.
The final step was a pre-signing physical on Tuesday afternoon. Details of the extension will be formally announced during a press conference on Wednesday afternoon, but CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the reported terms from last week remain the same. The new deal, which replaces the two years and $39.5 million remaining on King Felix's previous contract, will run through the 2019 season. There was a report over the weekend about a possible elbow issue, but it appears the matter was quickly resolved by the Mariners adding some protective language in the contract.
