Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik said Sunday that Felix Hernandez has been throwing at Safeco Field "for the last month or so" and is "his normal self."
Zduriencik refused to comment on the report from ESPN's Buster Olney that Hernandez's seven-year, $175 million extension was being held up due to an issue with the right-hander's elbow. But, while there might be something minor going on, it's clear that the injury won't affect King Felix's availability for Opening Day unless the ailment gets worse. For the record, when asked about Hernandez's extension, Mariners director of baseball information Tim Hevly said "no announcement is planned or imminent."
