Indians signed 1B/DH Jason Giambi to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
If he makes the roster, he'll earn a base salary of $750,000 plus incentives. Troy Renck of the Denver Post was the first to break the story. After the 2012 season, Giambi wasn't sure what direction his career path would take. He interviewed for the Rockies managerial vacancy, then considered becoming a hitting coach, but just couldn't hang 'em up just yet. He'll compete for a bench spot with the Indians, who are lacking in left-handed power threats.
