MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports that the Diamondbacks have approached Paul Goldschmidt about a long-term extension.
Goldschmidt, however, told the Diamondbacks that he "wanted to wait" before talking about it. The 25-year-old first baseman batted .286/.359/.490 with 20 home runs and 83 RBI in his first full season in the majors and isn't arbitration-eligible until 2015.
