Freese agrees to one-year deal with Cards

Cardinals and 3B David Freese avoided arbitration Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $3.15 million contract.
This confirms a report by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Freese was arbitration-eligible for the first time this winter coming off an impressive 2012 campaign in which he hit .293/.372/.467 with 20 homers and 79 RBI in 2012. He should continue to be a useful option at third base in mixed fantasy leagues.
