According to ESPN's Jason Churchill, the Mariners are "taking a look" at free agent righty Jon Garland.
Churchill says Garland, who did not pitch professionally in 2012, looks "decent." The 33-year-old posted a 4.33 ERA and 1.39 WHIP over 54 innings with the Dodgers in 2011 before undergoing right rotator cuff surgery. He is surely going to have to accept a minor league contract.
