Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he's in an "ongoing discussion" with Michael Bourn's agent, Scott Boras.
"Realistically, the outfield situation is set with that possible exception," Alderson said. "My expectation is we'll go into spring training with what we have unless something were to transpire in the free-agent market." Boras wants a five-year deal for his client, but the Mets are unwilling to go beyond three years. The Mets are also hesitant to surrender the No. 11 pick, but they might be willing to do so if they think they're getting Bourn at a discounted rate.
