Robert Griffin III wins AP Rookie of the Year
Robert Griffin III - QB - Washington Redskins
Feb. 2, 2013 - 8:10 PM ET

Robert Griffin III was announced as the Associated Press' NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year on Saturday.

Griffin received 29 of a possible 50 votes to beat out Andrew Luck (11) and Russell Wilson (10) for the award. In his first year as the Redskins' quarterback, Griffin posted 27 total touchdowns to just five interceptions and led Washington to its first NFC East title in 13 years. It's the second consecutive season that a quarterback has won after Cam Newton took home the honors in 2011. Griffin's overall consistency and playmaking ability ultimately made him the right choice. His 102.4 quarterback rating set the NFL record for a rookie.
