Phillies 'seriously considering' Delmon Young
Delmon Young - OF - Detroit Tigers
Jan. 22, 2013 - 11:10 AM ET

Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com reports that the Phillies are "seriously considering" signing free agent oufielder Delmon Young.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. hopes to add a corner outfielder prior to spring training and confirms that he has been in touch with Young's representatives. The 27-year-old batted .267/.298/.411 with 18 home runs, 74 RBI and a .707 OPS in 151 games last season for the Tigers. While Young could be a useful bat against left-handed pitching, he is a pretty big liability defensively. The Phillies have also considered signing Scott Hairston or trading for Angels' outfielder Vernon Wells.
