Scherzer requests $7.4 million in arbitraton

Max Scherzer requested $7.4 million and was offered $6.05 million from the Tigers when arbitration figures were exchanged Friday.
Scherzer, who is arbitration-eligible for the second time, posted a 3.74 ERA and 231/60 K/BB ratio over 187 2/3 innings last season while earning $3.75 million. The difference is small enough that the two sides should be able to avoid a hearing.
