Alderson says d'Arnaud can make MLB roster
Travis d'Arnaud - C - New York Mets
Jan. 18, 2013 - 12:37 AM ET

Mets GM Sandy Alderson said Thursday that Travis d'Arnaud could open the 2013 season in the majors.

But it seems unlikely to happen. "I just don't want to rule anything out," Alderson said in an interview on New York's WFAN. "But at the same time, I don't want to create false expectations for our fans or put pressure on Travis." The young catcher is exceptionally talented but hasn't played since last June because of a knee injury. He'll be better suited spending a few more months at Triple-A. Of course, doing so would also delay his service time.
