Light heavyweights headline Fight Night

Co-feature bout includes middleweights Elvin Ayala vs. Curtis Stevens in the first Fight Night of 2013.

NBC Sports Group continues its Fight Night series this Saturday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network. In the main event, Gabriel “Chico Guapo” Campillo (21-4-1, 7 KO’s) of Madrid, Spain faces off with Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (19-0-1, 16 KO’s) of Ft. Lauderdale Fla.

Located at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn., this Fight Night telecast will be the first 2013 edition of the popular nationally televised boxing series.

Former light heavyweight world champion Campillo is rated No. 3 in the world by the IBF, and his counterpart, Kovalev, is currently rated No. 10 in the world by the WBC and No. 14 by the IBF.

In the co-feature bout, Elvin Ayala (26-5-1, 12 KO’s) of New Haven, Conn., steps in to the ring against Curtis Stevens (22-3, 16 KO’s) of Brooklyn, N.Y., in a 10-round middleweight fight.

NBC Sports Group’s Fight Night broadcast team of Kenny Rice on play-by-play, Hall-of-Fame boxing trainer Freddie Roach, cruiserweight contender B.J. Flores, and Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix will call the action and analyze every second of the bouts.
