CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Red Sox and Mike Napoli have made progress in negotiations and that a resolution will likely be reached by next week at the latest.
Napoli agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract with the Red Sox over a month ago, but talks hit a snag after an issue with one of his hips was reportedly found during a pre-signing physical. It's believed that the club wants him to sign an amended contract, possibly with just one year guaranteed. Heyman hears that Napoli is talking to a couple other AL teams, but the Red Sox are still the likely favorites.
