A's sign manager Melvin to two-year extension

The A's have signed manager Bob Melvin to a two-year contract extension through 2016.
Even with two years left on Melvin's prior deal, the A's decided not to waste any time locking him up over the long haul. The 2012 American League Manager of the Year, Melvin led his squad to 94 wins and an AL West title just one year after they finished with 74 victories. He also won a Manager of the Year award during his time with the Diamondbacks.
