According to Bill Ladson of MLB.com, the Nationals feel that the Rays would make "great trade partners" for Michael Morse.
Morse is suddenly expendable now that the Nationals have re-signed Adam LaRoche to a two-year contract. The 29-year-old is set to earn $6.75 million in 2013 before hitting free agency, but he should attract plenty of interest. Ladson hears that the Nationals wants "pitching prospects" in return, but other reports indicate that they could target a left-handed reliever and/or rotation depth. It's not clear who interests them with the Rays.
