Scott Hairston's agent, Casey Close, told Wallace Matthews of ESPN New York that he continues to talk with both the Mets and Yankees and that his client should make a decision on where he'll sign within "a matter of days."
Other teams could be involved, but it sounds like the Mets and Yankees are the finalists. "I think he's a good fit for either team," said Close. "But there are different roles at each place and Scott is deciding which is the best option for him." Hairston would be an everyday player with the Mets, but he would likely see most of his at-bats against left-handers with the Yankees. Of course, the money and the chance to win will also be significant considerations.
