Browns have asked permission to interview 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble for the team's vacant general manager position.
Asking permission is just a formality. Gamble has already interviewed with the Jaguars and is expected to do the same with the Jets and Chargers. He joins Atlanta's David Caldwell, Arizona's Steve Keim and Jason Licht, Kansas City's Ray Farmer, Seattle's John Idzik, and NFL Network's Michael Lombardi as candidates linked to Cleveland. Gamble has been with the 49ers for the past seven years.
