Pacquiao's wife reportedly wants him to retire

'There is nothing to prove' following knockout loss to Marquez

Manny Pacquiao's wife reportedly says it's time for her husband to exit the ring.

Jinkee Pacquiao told USA Today Sports this week that she was afraid when he husband was knocked out by a strong right punch by rival Juan Manuel Marquez in the sixth round of their bout Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.

"It's the first time I've seen him like that, lying on the canvas, and I was scared,'' she said. She said she began screaming and crying, and was comforted by promoter Bob Arum.

The nation grieved for those hurt, killed and affected by the Boston Marathon bombings. After one of the suspects was caught on Friday — following a day-long lockdown and manhunt — sports returned to Boston over the weekend.

Pacquiao, 33, (54-5-2, 38 KOs) is a former eight-division champion and has fought for 17 years, and his wife says it's time for him to retire.

"I know he is still (capable) of fighting, but for me there is nothing to prove," Jinkee Pacquiao told USA Today Sports. "He already has eight (title) belts. He can retire — stop — at any time. I want him to stop now. But he is the one who has the last say."
