Andy Martino of the New York Daily News reports that the Mets were in the process Monday of improving their offer to R.A. Dickey to two years at $10 million per season.
Dickey is already set to make $5 million in 2013, so he would make $25 million over the next three seasons. The 2012 Cy Young Award winner has been asking for a two-year extension worth $26 million, but Martino hears that the two sides were about $10 million apart immediately after the Winter Meetings. Dickey's request is very reasonable, so we expect the two sides will find a match if the Mets are unable to find an offer to their liking in the trade market.
