Royals shopping Myers for a starting pitcher
Wil Myers - OF - Kansas City Royals
Nov. 24, 2012 - 11:15 AM ET

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports, the Royals are shopping top prospect Wil Myers on the trade market in an attempt to upgrade their pitching staff.

After trading for Ervin Santana and re-signing Jeremy Guthrie, the Royals are now trying to land a frontline starter. Salvador Perez and Alcides Escobar are likely off-limits because of their team-friendly contracts, but pretty much anyone else is available in the right deal. Passan hears that the Royals have talked to the Rays, Diamondbacks, Mariners and Athletics. Myers, who hit .314/.387/.600 with 37 homers and 109 RBI across two minor league levels as a 21-year-old in 2012, could command an impressive return in a trade.
