Beat writer David Mayo says the Pistons "won't break the bank" to retain impending unrestricted free agent Jose Calderon.
Both sides have essentially taken a wait-and-see approach here. So far, the Pistons are 5-7 with Calderon as their starting point guard. He's averaged 12.3 points, 7.2 assists, 1.8 turnovers, 1.3 steals and shot 50.0 percent from the field, far more efficient numbers than Brandon Knight posted. Calderon figures to test the market this summer to see what his max value is.
