Report: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren's job is safe
Peter Laviolette - C - Philadelphia Flyers

Philadelphia Flyers GM Paul Holmgren is reportedly not in danger of losing his job.

"Look at his body of work. He's done a very good job," said a Philadelphia Inquirer source. "He's not going anywhere." Whether or not he's done a good job is debatable. He's certainly been bold, as evidence by his decision to trade away Jeff Carter and Mike Richards and bet big on goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov. The Philadelphia Flyers are a long shot to make the playoffs at this point, but they were able to eke out a 2-1 shootout win against the New Jersey Devils on Friday. Perhaps they can turn that into the start of a prolonged winning streak.
