Corey Crawford allowed five goals on 19 shots in just two periods of work as the sub .500 Colorado Avalanche hammered the Blackhawks 6-2 at home to halt Chicago's record breaking point streak to start a season.
Jonathan Toews gave the Hawks an early lead but Crawford, who was magnificent during the streak (11-0-5, 1.53 GAA, .940 save percentage) broke down and allowed four consecutive goals in the second period. Ray Emery replaced him to start the third where the Hawks narrowed the gap to 5-2, but that was the closest they would come as a lively Pepsi Centre in Denver chanted "End the streak" in the final minutes.
