Red Wings has been strong defensively lately
Mike Babcock - C - Detroit Red Wings
March 7, 2013 - 10:10 AM ET

The Detroit Red Wings have allowed just 11 goals in their last six games.

Detroit's defense was a big concern going into this season, but they've clearly been holding their own lately. Still, the Red Wings are far from a safe bet to extend their streak of playoff births to a 22nd season. They have a 11-8-4 record this season, which puts them in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Western Conference. They're also only two points ahead of the three teams tied for eighth, ninth, and tenth places respectively despite having played in an extra game than all of those three squads.
