Karlsson severs Achilles, out indefinitely
Erik Karlsson - D - Ottawa Senators
Feb. 13, 2013 - 10:00 PM ET

Erik Karlsson has sustained a laceration to his left Achilles and will be out indefinitely.

Last year's Norris Trophy winner will need surgery, and it's highly unlikely that he'll play again this season. It's a massive blow to the Senators and fantasy owners alike. Karlsson was injured when Matt Cooke's skate contacted him as he pinned the blueliner against the boards. The Sens will now be without two of their best players: Karlsson and Jason Spezza. Milan Michalek also missed Wednesday's game with a lower body injury.
