GM says Capitals 'not gonna blow anything up'

Washington Capitals GM George McPhee says he won't 'blow anything up' despite the team's disastrous start.

The Caps fell to 2-8-1 after Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Penguins and appear no closer to putting things together. Troy Brouwer said the Caps "weren't ready to play," which is a phrase that has been repeated often by his teammates this season. Alex Ovechkin appeared disgusted and was reportedly very brief in his postgame comments. On Friday, McPhee specifically called out goalies Michal Neuvirth and Braden Holtby, but said the only moves he'll make are those that better the team in the long term. "We're not going to do anything short-term. We're not going to blow anything up," he said."
