Capitals will let Ovechkin play in Olympics

Alex Ovechkin will be allowed to play in the 2014 Winter Olympics, according to Capitals owner Ted Leonsis.
The NHL hasn't committed to playing in the next Olympic games, so this is a major statement. If the NHL decides not to participate, then Ovechkin could leave the Washington Capitals during the stretch run of the campaign to go to Russia and play in the tournament.
