The success that Damien Brunner has enjoyed during the lockout in Switzerland has earned him the attention of Detroit coach Mike Babcock.

Babcock wants to start the season with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg on the same line and he intends to have Brunner riding shotgun with his two best players. "They've been playing (in Europe) and they're in shape," Babcock said referring to Datsyuk and Zetterberg. "They play good together. Last year they started out slow, never got going." Brunner displayed chemistry with Zetterberg during their time with Zug in the Swiss League and it will be very interesting to see how he transitions to the NHL. Babcock said that the wingers could rotate on his top two lines, but Brunner stands an excellent chance of making his first year in North America a memorable one and he has great potential as a sleeper.
