Gonchar rediscovers his touch in Russia

The KHL honored Sergei Gonchar as the best defenseman for the month of December on Tuesday.
The veteran rearguard is coming off two disappointing seasons with Ottawa, but he has been excellent while suiting up for Metallurg Magnitogorsk this campaign back home in Russia. Gonchar recorded one goal, 10 assists and a plus-11 rating in nine contests with Magnitogorsk over the month of December to earn the achievement.
