NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly has confirmed that the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service will enter into CBA talks to try to help the two sides come to an agreement.

"We are able to confirm that we have agreed to a request by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service to engage in meetings with the Union that will involve the participation of Federal Mediators," said Daly in a statement. "While we have no particular level of expectation going into this process, we welcome a new approach in trying to reach a resolution of the ongoing labor dispute at the earliest possible date. We have no further comment on the upcoming meetings at the current time." According to a source, the first meeting will "likely" occur on Wednesday, but all three parties are keeping the location and other details private.
