The NHL and NHLPA failed to gain any traction following Wednesday's talks despite the players' union submission of a new proposal.
"Nothing on significant economic issues," NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr told reporters after getting the league's response. "On the big things there was, as of today, no reciprocity in any meaningful sense." Contractual issues and the "make whole" provision are still key issues where both sides aren't seeing eye-to-eye, but they are reportedly getting closer on revenue sharing. The players will likely be frustrated by the NHL's response as they feel they made some more concessions in their latest proposal. The union will hold a conference call early this evening to discuss what has happened and what happens next.
