A report from Sportsnet is suggesting that the Montreal Canadiens and new GM Marc Bergevin will buy out the remainder of Scott Gomez's contract.
The much-maligned forward has two years remaining on his current deal with an annual cap hit of $7.36 million. The Canadiens have a press conference set to formerly introduce Bergevin later this afternoon and Gomez hasn't heard anything regarding his future yet, so take this report with a grain of salt for now. "As I've said before, that's a management decision," Gomez said in a text to Hockey Inside/Out. "I only worry about what I can control and I'm already in the gym getting ready for next season. That's my only focus. I'll let the media focus on rumors and debate what (the Canadiens) should or shouldn't do."
