Johnson scores 34 points; Hawks take 1-0 lead
Joe Johnson - G/F - Atlanta Hawks
May 3, 2011 - 3:45 AM ET

Joe Johnson hit 12-of-18 shots (and all five 3-point attempts) for 34 points in the Hawks' Game 1 win over the Bulls, and also added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

He played like a 'max contract' player on Monday, and while he fell into the Hawks' pattern of jacking up bad shots at times, some of them fell and as you can see he was amazingly efficient tonight. Josh Smith stood outside and played the pick-and-pop game to his peril, hitting just 3-of-11 shots for eight points, but enough was working for Atlanta tonight to wake the nation up -- The Hawks are for real (we think).
